Forming your hypothesis
Junior mechanical engineering major Martin Fevre was thrilled to stay on campus last summer to participate in the Elizabethtown's Scholarship and Creative Arts Research Program (SCARP). He and Dr. Tomas Estrada collaborated on a robotics project: a pace car that uses infrared sensors to follow a line on an indoor or outdoor track. Martin said this research involves many things he enjoys: mechanical, electrical and computer engineering, as well as sports—Martin also is captain of the Blue Jays men's soccer team. Students of all majors work alongside faculty mentors through SCARP; last summer, a Spanish major worked with a math professor to translate a historic string theory document, and there are plenty of opportunities to work as lab assistants in chemistry and the biology.
