Community Based Learning

A Sweet Mentoring Program

A hallmark of community-based learning
at Elizabethtown is Moving Forward Together, a mentoring outreach program that matches first-year college students with high school mentees from Milton Hershey School. The residential school, founded by Milton S. Hershey of the famed chocolate company, provides a structured home life year-round to prekindergarten through 12th-grade students, at no cost. Over their four years together, through a number of skill-building and service activities, mentees learn the value of secondary and college education and, the E-town mentors gain valuable skills for the professional world.

Relationships grow and take hold as a result of Moving Forward Together, benefiting both the mentees and the E-town students as they prepare for life after college, pass along their own wisdom and guidance to their mentees and continue a long legacy of service.
