The range open and click rates was quite wide because of the large discrepancy in number of recipients, but overall the campaign average open rate was 25.1% and click through rate was .94%.
A few details
Elizabethtown College’s Admissions Office senior search campaign is one of the first “official” emails prospective students receive during the admissions process. In the past, this email was a generic welcome message with a list of link to individual majors. When Admissions wanted to redesign the email, I took the opportunity to step them down the road towards targeted emails by redesigning the one generic senior search email to be a series of emails that targeted the recipient’s intended major.
Content for the first emails focused on department strengths, such as: advanced lab work, cross discipline course work, or field placement for first-year students. Calls to action focused on getting students to submit an application or to visit the department website and then submit an application.
Emails that promoted visit opportunities were sent between the department informational emails to provide another touch.
