A few details
Elizabethtown College needed a full redevelopment of their public facing website. Everything from the way the pages were structured, to SEO, messaging, calls to action, goal pages, and responsive templates.
How I solved it
Utilizing the Bootstrap framework, I developed two base templates: one with a side navigation and one without. Along with a common header and footer, these templates provided a strong foundation from which to build. Restructuring the academic departments to promote their major pages increased search engine rankings and made previously underperforming majors more visible.
We quickly realized that the department pages were highly viewed, but other key indicators were not within the range of acceptability. We restructured and rewrote department sites to focus on their majors.
Utilizing a framework was a necessity because there was no money. However, $10.50 was spent on purchasing a small script that would have otherwise taken a week of work to complete.
The team consisted of two people: one person to rewrite academic department content, and myself to design and develop the new templates.
